Ride "The Compound"
Originally when we were thinking up camp, we were going to do three 2 hour sessions a week at The Air Dome. Then we got to thinking..., how can we get more riding? So we thought, lets build our own dirt jumps and mulch pit at "The Compound". Then we got crazy and thought, "We have an airbag on the glacier for the snowboarders and skiers, we should get one for The Compound so the mountain bikers can get the same possibilities for progression." So we did. Then we thought we should build some stunts for campers to practice their north shore style stunt skills on so that when we get in the park, we are riding the park instead of the skills zones...
So now instead of riding three 2 hour sessions a week at The Air Dome, you can ride for 6 hours a DAY in the "The Compound" after riding the park all day. You can now ride from 10 til 10 every day at The Camp of Champions. We'd light "The Compound" so we could ride even later, but come on, you have to sleep sometime.
So... The Camp of Champions is blowing up. Literally. The Camp of Champions is blowing up the 365 Sports Big Air Bag all summer in "The Compound". If you've never seen an Air Bag, they are like the idea of a foam pit, designed to help riders learn new tricks by having an amazingly soft, safe, landing. The 365 Sports Big Air Bag is enormous so you can attempt any trick you can think of. Best of all you don't use all your energy digging yourself and your bike out after landing like you do in a foam pit.
The 365 Sports Big Air Bag is like a stunt bag you see on movie sets for jumping out of buildings, but designed for going big and learning tricks on a mountain bike and BMX bike. It sets the new standard for learning.
365 Sports, The Camp of Champions and "The Compound" have added a whole new dimension to summer camps and riding in Whistler.
The Compound Riding Features Include:
- Private 365 Sports Air Bag
- Private Dirt Jumps
- Private Mulch Pit
- Private North Shore Stunts Skills Area
Dirt Jump Specific Coaches
"The Compound" is the most fun you can have in Whistler other than the Bike Park. It's where our coaches, Greg Watts, Alan Hepburn, Andrew Taylor, Casey Groves, Kelly McGarry and all our other coaches, teach riders how to do the tricks they want to learn. You learn the trick into the 365 Sports Airbag, then take it to the mulch, then to the dirt. All in the same place. It's the safest progression curve you will find anywhere. With coaches that have won Crankworx, GoatStyle and other contests you know the coaching, learning and the sessions at "The Compound" this summer are going to get hectic. Can you say...Throwing Down!
Dirt Jump Specific Bikes
As we are trying to constantly improve every part of camp, the bikes we ride at "The Compound" have also been upgraded. New for this year we have the Spank "Tweet Tweet" NS Bikes Metropolis 1,2,3's and Banshee AMP's all sick DJ bikes that will definitely make you stoked to hit "The Compound". Sessions are going to go off this summer.
Ride More = Learn More
We ride The Bike Park all day and then hit The Compound from 4:30 to 10PM. We know you learn the most when you have amazing facilities right outside your door that you can ride anytime you want. You can learn when the inspiration hits. Ride More - Learn More® at The Camp of Champions. We were going to have three private sessions a week at The Air Dome, but by building our own facility, The Compound" campers get more hours for riding than can physically be ridden. When you add up the amount of hours riding you get at COC compared to other camps in Whistler, you get DAYS more riding. Riding is what you came for, so come to The Camp of Champions and get more.
